JACKSONVILLE - During a break in the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs football game in downtown Jacksonville's TIAA Field, Orange Park High School got a military shoutout to one of its finest.

U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Carl Finney, class of 1984 graduate of Orange Park High School, was honored with friends and family during a game break as Jacksonville "veteran of the game" by Dr. Patrick Basile, an area surgeon.

Finney has deployed nine times in service to his country as a member of multiple SEAL teams.

In 2005, he was awarded a Bronze Star with Valor for heroic achievement in connection with combat operations against the enemy as Leading Chief Petty Officer of Seal Team Ten. He is also the recipient of the Bronze Star for exceptional meritorious service in 2009. Finney is a 1984 graduate of Orange Park High School in Jacksonville.

Finney has an impressive 31 years of Special Operations experience within SOF and SEAL Teams. He has subject matter expertise in Maritime Operations, VBSS, Close Quarters Combat, Land Warfare, Urban Combat, and Air Insertion and Extraction techniques and procedures. He was with Navy SEAL Teams One, 8, and 10.
