Oakleaf at Fleming Island
This was supposed to be a monumental Friday of district clashes on opposite ends of the county, but the season’s did not align and now it’s just bragging rights; Oakleaf at Fleming Island and Clay at Orange Park almost as big as August 27-28 weekend of Orange Park and Oakleaf and Clay at Fleming Island. Drew Ammon, 240 yards vs. Creekside last week with three touchdowns, loves the big stage; soccer fans know this. Bradshaw and Murray are lethal pass combo. Fleming Island freshman quarterback Cibastian Broughton can put a pretty big feather in his cap. Both teams had uncharacteristic losses last week and are seeking a strong finish.
Clay (6-3) at Orange (3-6)
Orange Park and Clay; old days Ridgeview and Clay: Macpherson loves an upset. Have someone film the one you can’t go to because both will be dynamite. Clay got stymied last week at North Marion and got miffed. Coach Kyle Kennard wants to right the emotional ship of his season. Macpherson got some traction last week with win over Englewood. Raiders have big 1-2 punch Restall behind Kearney plus some pretty good pass catchers.
Keystone Heights (9-0)
at P.K. Yonge (6-3)
Keystone Heights at P.K. Yonge; probably as tough game for Indians to not think of next game, but coach Chuck Dickinson keeps things simple. Run the ball, pound defense. Win games. Dalton Hollingsworth, machine-like four scores on 130 yards. Tyler Jenkins, 10 yards a pop for 118. Logan Williams with 47 yard catch?? A Pass? Still awaiting Kade Sanders to return if possible.
Yonge has big pass game (1335 yards, 14TDs, Aaron Small, Jr., #5). Noone over 600 yards rushing including Small at 536 yards. Junior Jaren Hamilton has 26 catches, 9TDs. (#22).
Yulee (1-8) at Middleburg (5-4)
Middleburg finishes with winning season for first time in century. ‘Nuff said. Coach Ryan Wolfe and boys turned program and hopefully it will have traction for a long time.
Ridgeview (1-8) at West Nassau (3-4)
West Nassau is rugged team. Ridgeview needs a break to regroup from injuries and look ahead to spring football. Arnette has been admirable in keeping sanity on the season with the obstacles.
St.Johns Country Day School (1-9) lost 32-0 playoff game to Lake Mary Prep (5-3) in the SSAC 8-Man playoffs. QB Shane Reaves, 2 of 9. Owen Johnston 17 rushes for 82 yards, Caleb Cameron 12 for 53 yards.
