GREEN COVE SPRINGS - With Colton Swartz taking the first place slot with a two under par 70 score, the Fleming Island High boys golf team opened their 2019 season with a win over Oakleaf in the Clay County Boys Golf Tournament held Monday at Magnolia Point.
Fleming Island scored the low score at 308 with Oakleaf second at 347 and St. Johns Country Day School third at 387.
Behind them were Keystone Heights, Orange Park, Clay, Middleburg and Ridgeview.
Fleming Island's 308 came with Swartz's 70 and a 77 from Andy Lonsdale, an 80 from Mike Amendola, an 81 from Andrew Davis and an 87 from Chris Ostrow.
Oakleaf's best score came from a tie with Zach Maples and Braden Hill tying at 85 with Jackson Hickey at 88 and Braden Thomas at 89.
Middleburg High freshman Chase Carroll, brother to graduate state champion Cody Carroll, who is now at University of North Florida, shot a 78 to finish third overall.
St. Johns' top scorer was Lucas Wahlstrom with an 85 with Keystone Heights' Tyler Thomas top Indian at 90 and Orange Park's Joseph Joiner top Raider at 89.
Clay got a 97 from Aiden Stokes with Ridgeview's Logan Bialek scoring 110 to lead the Panthers.
