The Florida State swimming and diving team had eight student-athletes in competition at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship from March 19-22 at the Weyhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.
On the Seminole team was Fleming Island High grad Maryn McDade, a three time 50 free state champion and a 100 free state champion in her senior season. McDade is a freshman for the Seminoles.
FSU seniors Maddy Huggins and Edith Jernstedt will represent the Seminoles in individual swimming events, while graduate student Samantha Vear and redshirt junior Kayleigh Clark will compete in individual diving events. Also competing are graduate student Jenny Halden, senior Gloria Muzito and freshmen Alice Velden and Maryn McDade in the team's three qualified relays.
At the NCAA Womens Swimming and Diving Championships, McDade was lead off leg for the 200 free relay that finished 22nd with McDade opening her 50 free leg in 22.59.
In her college debut against Georgia Tech, McDade was fourth in the 50 free in 23.14 and sixth in the 100 free in 51.05.
At the Atlantic Coast Conference championships in February, McDade was leadoff leg for the FSU 20 free relay that finished 11th with her opening leg 22.60.
In the 50 free, McDade was 35th at 22.57. In the 100 free, McDade was 48th in 49.90.
In the 400 free relay, McDade was third leg for the Seminoles who finished 12th timing a 48.61 leg.
