Faith Walk: Hero or SUPERHERO?

Hero or SUPERHERO?

My son and I were having a conversation recently about heroes. With the recent rise in popularity of the Marvel movie franchise, there are a lot of new heroes being promoted. Quite a few villains as well. As we were talking, the conversation turned to the difference between a “hero” and a “superhero”.

We asked each other, “Who is your hero?”. We both quickly agreed it is Jesus. Then I asked, is Jesus a hero or a superhero? His answer was an emphatic “SUPER”!

Romans 8:37 says, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us”.

The Apostle Paul was saying, because of Jesus, we can conquer calamity, persecution, hunger, danger or even being threatened with death.

When Paul wrote this letter to the Romans, he used the Greek language. In Romans 8:37 he used a Greek word hypernikáō. This word translates to “hyper” or “super”. (Strong’s 5245)

So, in fact, we are not merely conquerors, we are SUPER conquerors through Him who loved us.

No matter what you may be going through today, because of Jesus, you are a SUPER conqueror. Not of your own power or strength, but God’s power working through you.

Jesus Christ is the true victor in all things! There is no foe that can stand against Him in any fight. Through Him, there is victory over any difficulty you may face.

Remember, you are not defined by your current situation. Your identity is found in Christ. He is the undefeated King of Glory, and you are right beside Him. Any opposition you may experience in this life is under the authority of Jesus. Jesus said in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Trust God with all your circumstances today! He is the true SUPER-hero of your life!
