Christmas time brings about fond memories and warm feelings for many of us. Time with loved ones, Christmas lights, beautifully decorated trees, and holiday music fills our minds. Our family especially love giving gifts, things chosen for friends and loved ones that we know will warm their hearts and express our love and care for them.
Thinking back on your Christmas memories, what is the most special gift you’ve ever received or given? This Christmas when we give our gifts, remember the greatest gift of all. Romans 5:8 says, “But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Amplified) There is no greater gift we have ever received in life or will ever receive in the future than the gift of salvation through Jesus!
Billy Graham once said, “The very purpose of Christ’s coming into the world is that He might offer up His life as a sacrifice for the sins of men. He came to die. This is the heart of Christmas.”
Declare your thanks for His gift! It is beautiful, precious, and irreplaceable. Through it, you have eternal salvation! 2 Corinthians 9:15 says, “Now thanks be to God for His indescribable gift [which is precious beyond words]!” (Amplified) That is gift above all gifts! Hallelujah! There are no words to describe the importance and impact of this gift. It should serve as our focal point not only during the Christmas season but throughout our entire lives.
The greatest gift we can give is sharing the love of Jesus with everyone. Remember those less fortunate. Do something kind for them. This is how Jesus lived His life. Model that behavior and let it shape this Christmas season. Then, carry it throughout the rest of the year with you!
Serve others and offer acts of kindness to those in need. Make that a Christmas tradition. In doing so, you will be living out the true spirit of Christmas and continuing Christ’s redemptive work in this world. Don’t forget the greatest gift and commit yourself to sharing that gift with others! Merry Christmas!
