Are you patient enough? As you answer think about these things. Traffic lights, young children, grocery store or theme park lines, drivers on US17, etc. You get the picture! Perhaps you have your own list.

There’s no shame in admitting that patience is hard. That is just a common element of the human condition that we all share. Patience is something that must be practiced and learned through faith. It doesn’t come naturally! All you need to do is watch the life of a toddler. You’ll quickly see that we weren’t born with patience!

As people of faith, that makes it essential we trust in God’s timing. Trust in God is a crucial component of patience in the heart of a believer. Let’s look at an example.

Let’s say that you have felt a calling in your life to become a Pastor. You know that it’s not a calling that will happen overnight. It’s important to prepare, be mentored, perhaps serve as an associate, develop a team of accountability partners and more. Then, there is the process of waiting for the right time and the right place, another challenging endeavor. Then, once you’re there, there are a lot of tests and complexities in the life of a Pastor. All in all, it’s a calling that requires much patience!

God calls each of us to something. It may not be a Pastor, but what He has for you is every bit as important. If you have trust in the Lord, you know one thing: if the God has called you to something, He will help you see it through to completion. With that truth at the forefront of your mind, you can accomplish anything. He will then supply you with all the patience you need to see your calling through and make a difference for God’s Kingdom.

Psalm 24:17 encourages us in this. It reads, “Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD” (NLT).

We can trust in God’s timing. He is perfect in every way. His perspective is limitless and much more thorough than our own. If you walk with Jesus in your life, you can trust God’s timing in everything!
