If you want to live your best life, two things are essential: 1. Do the right thing, and 2. Grow in godly wisdom and apply it. If you stick to these two simple rules in your life, you can’t go wrong in anything you do!
There are two types of wisdom: the wisdom of the world and the wisdom of God. God’s wisdom trumps that of the world every time. God’s knowledge will lead us to life, but worldly wisdom will lead us to destruction. But how are we to find godly wisdom and apply it to our lives?
Obedience is key!
Knowledge comes from reading and dwelling on God’s word. Knowledge makes you wise. The more you do this the more it will integrate with the choices and decisions you will face. But for that wisdom to truly come to define your character and lead you on the path to God’s eternal kingdom, you must be obedient to it. You must be willing to follow God in everything you do!
Spiritual giant Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, “One act of obedience is better than one hundred sermons.”
The Bible spells out clearly the reward for those who are obedient to God’s wisdom. Proverbs 3:16-17 says, “Long life is in her [wisdom’s] right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.” When you live a life of obedience to God’s ways, He fills your life with peace. He leads you to the kind of fulfillment and purpose that you can find nowhere else.
Proverbs 19:8 says, “Grow a wise heart—you’ll do yourself a favor; keep a clear head—you’ll find a good life” (Message). God’s wisdom is within your grasp. All you need do is saturate your life in His Word and follow what it says. If you want to live your best life, obedience is key!
