Faith Walk: Salvation prayers

Posted

One of the most powerful things anyone can say to me is ”I am praying for you.” I know some people just use that expression as a toss away comment. But when someone tells me that and I know it is true, it is a strong encouragement to my faith.

My past experience tells me the power of someone praying for me. When I was just a young boy and did not know the Lord, I went to a Vacation Bible School because I had nothing else to do in the summer. Several of the young people who attended the VBS realized that I needed to be saved. They banded together agreeing to pray for me. I did not know this until quite some time later after I had come to the Lord. One day one of those praying young people called me to tell me this.

I believe that my decision to receive the Lord in my life was influenced by the prayers of those young people who took me on their heart and prayed for my salvation. This is something I have remembered through all the years and it is something I will never forget.

People who hardly knew me cared enough for me to pray for my salvation. Because of this I have been a Christian most of my life.

I have taken this experience as a guide. Now I pray regularly for those persons that I know who need to come to the Lord. Family, friends – even those whom I do not know personally are included in my prayers for their salvation.

I encourage you to pray for others. Especially pray for those who have not yet been saved. It is always God’s will to save those who have never received the Lord. So when you pray for any person to be saved, you know you are praying the will of God.

“(The Lord) is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
