GREEN COVE SPRINGS – After having to cancel the 2020 fair due to COVID-19, the Clay County Agricultural Fair was still recognized at this year’s International Association of Fairs and Expos Conference.
This year’s conference was held virtually due to restrictions in San Antonio, Texas.
In total the Clay County Fair won six awards, including four for first place.
They were:

• First place: At-Home Activities: non-video for our Pinterest Contest
• First place: Single photo of fairgrounds being used to serve the community. Team Rubicon Food Distribution. Photo by Kat Bynum
• First place: Communications to fairgoers about status of the 2020 Fair.
2020 Competitive Exhibits:
• Third place: Strategy or Tactic to Engage Competitive Exhibits Participants for our Horticulture and Photo virtual contest.
2020 Agricultural Awards:
• First place: Agriculture education during COVID‐19 – VIDEO for our Agri-Puppets Video during our Virtual Fair.
• Second place: Agriculture education during COVID‐19 – VIDEO for our Virtual Fair Storytime with Kim Berry reading "Gobble Gobble Crash! A Barnyard Counting Bash.”
“Despite having a challenging year after not having our annual fair, it was nice to have some good news in 2020! I am so incredibly proud of these awards for our Virtual Fair presence in the fair industry and the hard work that was being done on the fairgrounds to help the community.” Tasha Hyder, General Manager of the Clay County Agricultural Fair.
The 2021 Clay County Agricultural Fair is expected to be a go in 2021 and they have added an additional day to their fair schedule: April 1-11. Tickets and concert lineup will be available on Dec. 15.
