MIDDLEBURG – During the recent American Legion Post 250 of Middleburg’s monthly membership meeting, the 2021 American Legion Post 250 sponsored Boys State Delegates attended and gave a short brief regarding their experiences while thanking the membership for sponsoring them to attend Boys State at Florida State University. Each year, the program is provided at no cost to the Delegates, their parents or school. The Boys State Program is paid for by each American Legion Post. While attending Boys State, they learn and participate in Local and State Government operations. Started in 1935, the American Legion Boys State Program is a Non-Partisan, Premier Youth Leadership program defined as ‘A Week State Shapes A Lifetime.’ Each year, two Boys State Delegates from each state are chosen to attend The American Legion Boys Nation Program in Washington, D.C. The American Legion Auxiliary also sponsors a Girls State Program. Delegates included, from left, Matthew Mitchell and Ethan McKinney of Clay High School and Mathew Robert, Aaron Luther, Adam Cioffi and Tripp Larkin, all from Fleming Island High.
