God is love! His love is greater than our ability to understand. In fact, He created us so He could love us. Psalm 103:13 says, “The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.”
He cares about everything in our lives, deeply and sympathetically.
Jesus chose fisherman to make up most of His disciples. Jesus was out fishing with them one day and decided to take a nap.
A storm rolled in, not unusual for fisherman to experience. But this storm was extraordinary. Everyone was afraid. The ship was being tossed about; they were taking on water. Panicking, they awakened Jesus to ask him a question many of us may have asked, “Jesus, do you care?”
God, have you seen my bank account? Or… I just learned a member of my family has serious health concerns. Or… my company just laid off my position. Or… I can’t seem to relate to my spouse any longer. God, do you care?
The answer to these questions is a resounding YES! An amazing God, Creator of the universe, actually cares about you. God knows we need help! He wants to provide the help we need even more than we want it.
More importantly, he is uniquely able to provide the precise type of help we need. He knows exactly what we need more than what we might think we need.
He knows everything and He cares! One of those fishermen, Peter, put it like this:
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you”. (1 Peter 5:7)
When we fully grasp the depth of our Heavenly Father’s love for us, the consistency, the absoluteness, the unconditionality, we then will have no choice but to love Him as well.
God’s love is pursuing us every day of our life. If you feel God is nowhere to be found or some distant spirit, be encouraged and seek a greater understanding of the loving and compassionate Father God who cares deeply about you.
