ORANGE PARK – Sophia Fleming Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recognized two local artists at their annual awards meeting.
Jeannie Brockhausen and Beth Haizlip were presented the Women in the Arts Recognition Award that honors a woman who has made significant achievements at the community level in her artistic field. American Heritage Chairman Betty Bogusch, who submitted their paperwork, said these were two of the most worthy and talented artists.
The first honoree, Brockhausen, is a self-taught impressionist and realist painter. Her categories of painting include landscape, abstracts, and portraiture. She is currently a member of the Florida Watercolor Society, St. Augustine Art Association, National Watercolor Society, Art Guild of Orange Park, and American Watercolor Society. In 2017, the Jacksonville Watercolor Society honored Jeannie’s achievements by naming her “Artist of the Year,” and by providing a gallery exhibit of her work at The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach.
The second honoree, Haizlip, a professional artist, is a member of the Florida Watercolor Society, Jacksonville Watercolor Society, St. Augustine Art Association, Clay County Art Enrichment Program for Children, and The Art Guild of Orange Park. Beth uses various media including oils, acrylics, watercolor, and collage and she paints in many categories. Her website www.bethhaizlip.com contains biographical, as well as other information.
Beth has received many commissions, including 16 paintings for the Nemours Children Hospital of Jacksonville – to cheer up the young patients; a 40-foot mural in Green Cove Springs; and the published poster for the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival.
