FLEMING ISLAND – Are you ready to bake? More important, are you ready to feast on cupcakes?

Gateway Council Girl Scouts will host a cupcake competition on Aug. 20 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Crossroads Lutheran Church at 5101 Lakeshore Dr. West on Fleming Island.

Scouts are asked to bake three dozen of their favorite cupcakes. They will be judged in the following categories: most creative, most Girl Scout-spirited, best tasting and best in class.

After the competition, the cupcakes will be sold in variety packs of six or 12.

Scout may enter individually or as a team of two. Cupcakes need to be baked and decorated in advance. Girls not in the competition will be able to decorate cupcakes to take home. Professional cupcakes will be for sale, but not part of the judging.

The cost is $6 for each Girl Scout, $5 for a parent of a scout, as well as children and adults of non-scouts.

Participants will earn a scouting patch.

The event is for currently-registered Girl Scouts, registered adults who’ve completed a background check. Each scout is required to have a chaperone.
