County puts seized animals up for adoption

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Florida residents will be able to pre-register for a randomly assigned 30-minute adoption time slot for the upcoming Clay County Adoption event to be scheduled soon at the Clay County Fairgrounds.

Anyone interested in adopting any of the 266 animals seized during a raid at an Orange Park home at this event must pre-register at https://www.claycountygov.com/community/emergency-management and submit an application at Alert.ClayCountyGov.com. The registration portal will have information on pricing and the adoption process, and a link to pre-register.

Pre-registration runs through Friday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. Applications will not be evaluated until after the registration period closes on Nov. 5. Applications will not be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The application will ask for a contact name, email address and some basic information about previous pet ownership and family veterinarian information. All applications will be vetted the following week and assigned an identifying number. Each identifying number will be randomly assigned a time slot and the corresponding email address will be sent a confirmation with the date and time for the day of the adoption. Individuals will have only one-time slot assigned. If you are not able to make the assigned time, no other time slot will be assigned. Successfully vetted applicants should expect a confirmation email before the end of next week.

If you do not have access to email or the internet, please call the Clay County Emergency Management Call Center at (877) 252-8362 through Friday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for assistance pre-registering.
