Melrose’s Rodrigues graduates from RIT
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Marco Marco Rodrigues of Melrose graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in political science.
Some 4,300 degrees were conferred in the 2021-2022 academic year at all of RIT’s campuses. RIT’s 137th academic convocation celebration was held in May and featured remarks by Kimberly Bryant, founder of the nonprofit organization Black Girls CODE.
RIT is home to leading creators, entrepreneurs, innovators and researchers. Founded in 1829, RIT enrolls about 19,700 students in more than 200 career-oriented and professional programs, making it among the largest private universities in the United States.

Fleming Island’s Lawrence on Dean’s List at Young Harris College

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College is pleased to announce that Mollie Lawrence of Fleming Island has been named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2022 semester. Two local students make Dean’s List at Palmer College

PORT ORANGE – Alan Burnsed of Orange Park and Jared Hamilton of Green Cove Springs made the Dean’s List at Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Florida campus in Port Orange.
Palmer College of Chiropractic, the first and largest college in the chiropractic profession, has campuses in Davenport, Iowa; San Jose, California; and Port Orange.

Pair graduate as South Carolina Corps of Cadents
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Corps of Cadets Class of 2022 made history as one of The Citadel’s largest incoming classes when they arrived on campus four years ago.
Now, after two years of modified graduation celebrations, more than 600 members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets accepted their degrees during the college’s traditional commencement ceremony.
Local cadets who graduated were Brogen LaBranche (Bachelor of Science in Biolgy) of Green Cove Springs and Collier Summers (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) of Fleming Island.
The day before commencement, about 30% of the graduating cadets accepted commissions as officers into the U.S. Armed Services. Among those who accepted commissions are the first two Citadel cadets to join the U.S. Space Force: Conor William Deans, Space Operations Officer, and Jack O. Schwartz, Developmental Engineer.

Sweeney makes Dean’s List at Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C, -- Western Carolina University congratulates Margaret Sweeney of Fleming Island for earning a spot on the Spring 2022 Dean’s List. Sweeney was among more than 1,200 students to achieve this honor. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher while completing a minimum of 12 credit hours.
