Green Cove Springs’ Hershey graduates from Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Brittany Hershey, a University of Iowa student from Green Cove Springs, was one of more than 4,800 UI undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to recently participate in graduation ceremonies.
The UI's spring 2019 graduates had an average cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.16 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, 16 percent of the graduating class graduated with multiple majors and 355 undergraduates graduated with honors.

Orange Park’s Robinson earns business administration/logistics degree


PARKVILLE, Mo. – Park University’s Tinker Air Force Base (Okla.) Campus held its
commencement ceremony on May 23 at the Community Learning Center Auditorium at Rose State College in Midwest City.
The University had 16 students eligible to participate in the ceremony – all 16 received a bachelor’s degree.
Orange Park High’s James Patrick Robinson graduated with a degree in Business Administration/Logistics.

Abate graduates with Cum Laude honors at Elmira College

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Anthony Abate of Orange Park was among the graduates recently celebrated at the 161st Elmira College Commencement. The exercises, held at the First Arena in Elmira, included 204 undergraduate and 22 graduate students.
Members of the 2019 Elmira College graduating class were recognized with multiple honors and prizes, including induction into Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest national honors organization. The Class of 2019 also included more than 115 graduates receiving summa cum laude, magna cum laude and cum laude honors.
Abate was recognized with Cum Laude honors.

Three local students selected to President’s List at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – Three local students were selected to the President's List at Clemson University for the spring 2019 semester.
Corrina Rose Laird and Jillian T. Laird, both of Fleming Island, and Kaleigh A. Neely of Orange Park all achieved a 4.0-grade-point average.

Clay Extension Agent Olson gets master’s degree at South Dakota State

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Matthew Olson, Clay County 4-H Extension Agent, received his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education from South Dakota State University.
He is currently employed by the University of Florida, as the Clay County 4-H Extension Agent. Matthew is the son of Gerald and Linda Olson of Kingman, Ariz.

Clay trio on President’s List at Tallahassee Community College

TALLAHASSEE – Fleming Island High’s Andrea Miller and Orange Park’s Irina Struble and Sydney Peters all were named to the Spring 2019 President's List at Tallahassee Community College.
To qualify, students must earn a semester grade point average of 4.0.
Also, Anna Harward, Chase Moore, Kaeli Jenkins, Nicholas Ferendo and Valentina Rojas, all from Fleming Island, were placed on the Dean’s List with a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

Three wind up on Dean’s List at Valdosta State

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State University recently announced its Spring 2019 Dean's List, which included Zhanee Anderson and Tessa Bates of Orange Park and Kyleigh Reedy of Middleburg.
Students who achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional grade point average of 3.00 or higher are recognized by being placed on the Dean's List. Developmental studies, transient, and graduate students are not eligible for Dean's List status.
Valdosta State University is proud to announce that more than 1,600 students earned a spot on the Spring 2019 Dean's List.

Lloyd on President’s list; Fogarty on Dean’s list at Georgia State

ATLANTA – Alexander Floyd of Middleburg finished the Spring semester with a 4.0 grade point average to earn a spot on the President’s List at Georgia State.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth Fogarty of Orange Park was selected to the dean's list with a 3.5 GPA.

Fleming Island’s Stockton, Jordan land on Troy academic lists

TROY, Ala. – Sarah Stockton and Lillia Jordan, both of Fleming Island, were placed on lists at Troy State for their academic achievements.
Stockton was selected the Chancellor’s List for the spring semester with a 4.0 grand point average.
Jordan was selected to the Provost’s List at Troy University for the spring semester with a GPA of at least 3.65.
Both lists honor full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours.

Fleming Island’s Philips receives doctoral degree at North Georgia


DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Rachel Philips earned her doctoral degree in physical therapy recently at the University of North Georgia.
The Fleming Island High graduate was one of nearly 1,300 newly-minted North Georgia graduates walked in spring commencement ceremonies at the Convocation Center. In total, UNG granted 1,898 degrees and certificates to 1,850 graduates for the spring 2019 semester.

Two local students earn spots on dean’s list at Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Mount St. Mary's University was pleased to announce 665 students earned dean's list honors for the Spring 2019 semester. They include: Kielce Gussie of Middleburg Megan Spencer of Orange Park.
Mount St. Mary's University is a private, liberal arts, Catholic university in the Catoctin Mountains. The university offers more than 70 majors, minors, concentrations and special programs for traditional undergraduate students, more than 20 adult undergraduate and graduate level programs, and 22 NCAA Division I athletic teams.

Middleburg’s Johnson earns business degree at Trevecca Nazarene

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Deion Johnson of Middleburg recently graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration.
During the University's 118th Commencement Convocation, Trevecca conferred more than 1,140 degrees. Dr. Richard Parrott, Trevecca professor of leadership studies, served as the commencement speaker. The author of Leadership Essentials: The Proven Path of Effective Leadership, Finding Your Path in Life and My Soul Purpose, Parrott has served on the University faculty since 2008.

Fleming Island’s Ferrer receives degree from Colby College


WATERVILLE, Maine – Abigail H. Ferrer, of Fleming Island, was one of 462 seniors who graduated from Colby College, receiving a bachelor of arts degree at the College's 198th Commencement.
Award-winning television writer David E. Kelley was the guest speaker.
Ferrer, who majored in psychology and women's gender and sexuality studies, attended St Johns Country Day School and is the daughter of Lenn and Jennifer Ferrer of Fleming Island.
David E. Kelley, creator of popular and critically acclaimed shows from Ally McBeal to Big Little Lies, spoke to a crowd of more than 3,000 and urged Colby College graduates to reject a career that is "not so terrible" and instead pursue what will make them truly fulfilled.

Weiss on Bismarck State’s Spring President's Honor Roll

BISMARCK, N.D. – Fleming Island’s Cameron Weiss was selected to the President's Honor Roll for the Spring 2019 semester at Bismarck State College.
"Recognition for academic excellence isn't a right, it's a hard-earned privilege to be so recognized. We're always proud of those students who go above and beyond to achieve excellence and the recognition that goes with it," said BSC President Dr. Larry C. Skogen. "Congratulations, Cameron."
Students must maintain at least a 3.50 grade point on a 4.00 scale while enrolled in at least 12 semester hours of classes to qualify for the BSC President's Honor Roll.

Middleburg’s Mayo on Emmanuel College’s Dean’s List

BOSTON – Austin Mayo of Middleburg has been selected to Emmanuel College's Dean's List for the Spring 2019 semester. To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Emmanuel students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a 16-credit semester.
Emmanuel College is a co-educational, residential institution with more than 2,200 undergraduate students on a 17-acre campus in the heart of Boston's educational, scientific, cultural and medical communities.

George Fox puts Fleming Island’s Magruder on Dean’s List

NEWBERG, Ore. – Jake Magruder of Fleming Island was among those who recently earned dean's list recognition at George Fox University for the spring 2019 semester.
Traditional undergraduate students must earn a 3.5 grade point average or above on 12 or more hours of graded work to earn a spot on the dean's list.
Magruder is a junior majoring in engineering.
