Amber Jeffries finishes master’s studies

OXFORD, Ohio – Having applied the tools of science, education and conservation to become leaders in conversation communities, graduate students in the Global Field Program (GFP) and the Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) from Miami University's Project Dragonfly finished their master's studies.

Amber Jeffries of Orange Park, Florida, concluded her master's course of study with a Master of Arts in Biology from Miami University through Project Dragonfly.

Since joining the Advanced Inquiry Program master's in 2022, Jeffries has traveled to Costa Rica and taken courses on the web from Miami while also conducting projects that have made a difference in Clay County.

Throughout her time in the AIP, Jeffries developed a Master Plan – a kind of personal mission statement for what she wanted to accomplish in the program. In many of the master's courses, Jeffries designed projects that supported this plan, which culminated in a final portfolio, "Connecting the Community Through Conservation Education," presented in a Capstone course.

Jeffries works as an education specialist at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.

Deshawn Jackson graduates from Furman University

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman University announced that 24 students received bachelor's degrees in December, including Jeremiah Deshawn Jackson of Fleming Island, who graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences.

Jackson's parents/guardians are Marvin Jackson and Latanya Jackson.

Students receiving degrees in December 2024 have the option to participate in the May 2025 Commencement Ceremony.

Marquette University selects Archer to its Dean’s List

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Helene Archer of Green Cove Springs was selected to the Dean's List for the fall semester at Marquette University. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences.

To make the Dean's List, students must have earned at least 12 credits for the semester and have no disqualifying grades. The GPA threshold varies by college. For the College of Education and the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, undergraduate students must have at least a 3.7 GPA.

Green Cove Springs’ Hall on Samford’s Dean’s List

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kinley Hall, an Early Childhood/Elementary/Special Education major from Green Cove Springs, was selected to Samford University's Dean's List for Fall semester.

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. The Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

Paetyn Miller on Lawrence Tech’s Dean’s List

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Lawrence Technological University has announced Paetyn Miller of Middleburg earned a spot on the Dean's List of top scholars for the Fall semester.

Miller is majoring in Media Communication.

President's, Dean’s Lists posted at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A total of 14,631 students enrolled during Fall Semester at The University of Alabama earned spots on the President’s and Dean’s lists were named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the president's list with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).

Local students included Lilly Hudson of Fleming Island, Eris Lester and Akilah Prier of Oakleaf of Jacksonville (32244) were selected to the Dean’s List.

Halley Heyer makes Chancellor’s Lis at Ole Miss

UNIVERSITY, Miss. – Halley Heyer, of Fleming Island, made the University of Mississippi's Honor Roll lists.

Heyer, in the Accountancy program, was on the Chancellor's Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.75-4.00.

"The remarkable students achieving Chancellor's Honor Roll are among the best and brightest at the University of Mississippi," Chancellor Glenn Boyce said. "I commend them for their hard work and dedication resulting in their outstanding academic achievements and this well-deserved recognition."

To be eligible for honor roll designation, a student must have completed at least 12 graded hours for the semester and may not be on academic probation during the semester.

Meanwhile, Orange Park’s Isabella Boyd and Fleming Island’s Abigail Glavin qualified for the Dean’s List with a minimum GPA of 3.50.

Sessions makes Furman University’s Dean’s List

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Gabrielle Sessions of Fleming Island earned a place on Furman University's Dean's List for the fall semester. Furman's dean's list is composed of full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a four-point system.

Sessions' parents and/or guardians are William Sessions and Natalie Sessions.

Furman is a private, undergraduate liberal arts and sciences university of 2,500 students in Greenville, South Carolina.

17 from Clay on Maryland Global Campus’ Honor Roll

ADELPHI, Md. – More than 16,000 University of Maryland Global Campus students were on the Dean's List for the fall 2024 term, including 17 from Clay County. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5.

The following local students were named to the Dean's List:

Max Monroe on Presbyterian College's Dean's List

Makenna Clark makes Western Carolina's Chancellor's List

 

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Congratulations to Makenna Clark of Fleming Island for making the Western Carolina University’s Fall Chancellor's List.

Clark was among more than 2,000 students to achieve this honor. To qualify for the Chancellor's List, students must earn a GPA of 3.8 or higher while completing a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Two From Fleming Island on Shenandoah’s Dean's List

 

WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University recognized 1,131 students who made the Fall Dean's List.

Students who earned a spot on the list include Evan Gray and Gannon Thomas of Fleming Island.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must be enrolled full-time in baccalaureate degree programs and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher. Dean's List students who achieve a semester GPA of 3.90 or higher also qualify for the university's President's List.

Rachel Stencil makes Dean's List at LMU

 

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Rachel Stencil, of Green Cove Springs, who is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medical Technology, qualified for the Lincoln Memorial University Dean's List for the fall semester. To be placed on the Dean's List, the student must be a full-time undergraduate and have a 3.5 or higher grade-point-average for the semester. More than 700 students were recognized for high academic achievement.

Maysonet Robles on Maryville’s Dean’s List

MARYVILLE, Tenn – Leeann Maysonet Robles, a first-year student – and volleyball standout – at Maryville College, from Green CoveSprings, qualified for the Dean’s List for the fall semester.

Consideration for the Dean’s List is open to full-time students who have a grade point average of at least 3.6 in all work undertaken, no grade below a “C” and no incompletes for the semester.

For more than 200 years, Maryville College has educated students to be giving citizens and gifted leaders and to study everything, so that they are prepared for anything.

William Iller makes Dean’s List at The Citadel

 

CHARLESTON, S.C. – William Iller of Orange Park is among the more than 1,300 cadets and students recognized for their academic achievements during the fall semester.

The dean's list is a recognition given to cadets and students who are registered for 12 or more semester hours and whose grade point average is 3.20 or higher, with no grade of I (Incomplete) and no grade below C for work in a semester.

Cadets who are named to the dean's list receive a medal, which is worn on their uniform during the semester following their academic achievement. Non-cadet students on the dean's list are presented with a certificate.

Mississippi State lists Bailey on President's List

 

MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. – Donovan Bailey of Oakleaf earned a place on the Mississippi State University fall President's List.

Bailey is among 4,569 students who have attained this honor. Students on the President's List achieved a 3.80 or better grade-point average, based on a 4.0 scale, while completing at least 12 semester hours of coursework with no incomplete grades or grades lower than a C.

Mississippi State University is a national STEM-focused, doctoral degree-granting, land-grant university offering a wide range of educational experiences for learning and growth to a diverse student body of more than 23,000 students.

Keystone’s Cail on Hudson Valley’s Dean’s List

TROY, N.Y. – Christian Cail of Keystone Heights made the Fall Dean's List at Hudson Valley Community College.

Cail is studying in the Liberal Arts and Science: Humanities and Social Science academic program.

The Dean's List recognizes those full-time students and part-time students registered for at least six college credits who have a term average of 3.0 to less than 3.50. Students must have completed at least 12 college credits successfully.

Oakleaf’s Awe makes Nebraska’s Dean’s List

 

LINCOLN, Neb. – Aubrey Jacquelinn Awe of Oakleaf has earned a spot on the Deans' List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester.

Awe, a graduate student working towards a Master of Business Administration, was named to the Dean's List for the College of Business.

Qualification for the Dean's List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center.

Valdosta State posts four Clay students on Dean’s List

 

VALDOSTA, Ga. – More than 2,000 distinguished and accomplished students qualified for the Valdosta State University's Fall Dean's List, including four from Clay County – Grace Trautman of Middleburg, Kitara Lucombe of Oakleaf, Mallory Poole of Orange Park and Kaitlyn Scherer of Green Cove Springs.

To qualify for Dean's List at VSU, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutional grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
