Claystock, Boogerville hosting day-long music fests on Saturday

CLAY COUNTY – If you like music, you’ll like being in Clay County this Saturday.

A day of performances will start at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post 250 in Middleburg with Claystock, while another music fest, starting at noon, will be featured at Boogerville Hideout Bar in Green Cove Springs.

Claystock is presented by St. Michael’s Soldiers and the Hometown Kindness Project. Gemma Mathews, Stephen Quinn, The Southern Steele Band, 1 Hot Mess, Highway Jones, Big Engine and The Curt Towne Band that honor the memory of Lindsay Michelle Van Zant, the daughter of Lynyrd Skynyrd lead singer Johnny Van Zant. Lindsay died in 2018 of cancer.

The day of concerts, food and vendors will raise money for both St. Michael’s Soldiers and the Hometown Kindness Project.

“If you guys can do something great for somebody and pay it forward, do it,” Johnny Van Zant posted on the organization’s social media pages. “It will make you feel good. I know we appreciate it.”

Towne, who lives in Green Cove Springs, said the show will be the beginning of a busy few months. He announced on Monday, Aug. 14, his band will open for 38 Special on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. at the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville. He also said an announcement on a show on Nov. 10 may be announced soon.

“We’re going to be there with a bunch of friends of ours,” Towne said of Claystock. “It’s a wonderful, wonderful thing.”

Six acts are scheduled to hit the stage at Boogerville. Once Kings, Bleeding in Stereo, Divided Truth, Losing Daylight and The Deplorables all will play ahead of headliner Order by Chaos.
