CLAY COUNTY – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office joined law enforcement agencies from across the country Tuesday to celebrate National Night Out. The program is designed to help residents connect with officers in a friendly, informative and non-emergency way. Sheriff Michelle Cook, who attended the function in Keystone Heights, said National Night Out was a good way to “Have some food, have some fellowship and just enjoy each other's company.” There were a dozen neighborhood functions Tuesday. “The best way to make your neighborhoods safe is to know who your neighbors are and understand your neighbor,” Cook said. “National Night Out is just another example of the efforts that we make within the sheriff’s office to make sure that we have a genuine, working relationships with our communities that are based on trust, that are based on transparency, and again tonight we come together and we celebrate those relationships.”
