ORANGE PARK – A sting conducted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and other state and federal agencies led to the arrest of a Jacksonville man who used his computer to arrange sex with children.
Reginald Renaldo Jefferson, 29, was charged with using a computer to seduce or lure a child for sex, traveling to meet a minor for sex, attempting to flee law enforcement and using his cellphone to facilitate a felony.
According to the affidavit for arrest, deputies with Operation Shining Light contacted Jefferson on Aug. 3 and 4. He agreed to meet a 14-year-old “child” at Kingsley Avenue and Blanding Boulevard for a “qv,” which stands for a “quick” sexual encounter.
Operation Shining Light is a task force to unite organizations to fight against child exploitation and human trafficking.
When deputies attempted to make a traffic stop of Jefferson to arrest him, he drove around the squad car and tried to elude around the Blanding and Loch Rane Boulevard area. Fearful for motorists and pedestrians, CCSO terminated the chase.
He eventually was caught on Hogan Road in Jacksonville on Sept. 18.
Jefferson’s bond is $400,012.
