ORANGE PARK – A 19-year-old man was arrested after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said he robbed a smoke shop and threatened to “shoot” the store clerk if he followed him out of the store on June 20.
Malik Shemar Washington, of Jacksonville, was charged with entering the store wearing a hoodie and taking three boxes of merchandise, threatening the clerk and leaving the store, CCSO said. A customer in the store witnessed the robbery and threat, and it was captured on store surveillance.
Ten minutes later, Washington was spotted by the witness at another store, and he flagged down a CCSO detective. When Washington was arrested, deputies found the merchandise from the smoke shop inside a bookbag.
His bond was set at $100,003.
