KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – A man who threatened two people and a Clay County Fire Rescue lieutenant with a knife was subdued in a wooded area on June 27 when a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy used his Taser.
John Joseph Danella, 36, of Zephyrhills, was charged with aggravated assault on a firefighter/EMT, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting law enforcement after Danella went to Lake Area Ministries and asked for water. He then walked behind the business and into the woods. According to the arrest report, two people from the ministries followed him with some ice to help him cool off, but he threatened them with a knife.
Fire Rescue was called when Danella said he saw a woman passed out in the woods. When Fire Rescue arrived, a lieutenant was threatened with a knife. CCSO Tased Danella three times before they were able to put him in custody.
Danella was taken to HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital for observation.
Danella is being held without bond.
