GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The grand prize was supposed to be an E-Z-GO RXV golf cart, but it’s hard to argue that the biggest winner at the Saturday, Sept. 13, BINGO Bonanza Fundraiser wasn’t The Vineyard Transitional Center. The facility hosted a BINGO night and a raffle at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and wound up profiting nearly $18,000 that will be used toward the construction of a new dormitory and classrooms on Pine Street, Executive Director Josef Smith said. The top three prizes awarded in the blind drawing were the golf cart, a weeklong trip to North Carolina, Hilton Head, South Carolina, and a Blackstone griddle. Sheriff Michelle Cook won the griddle. The evening also included dinner, door prizes and BINGO. Construction is moving quickly, according to CEO John Sanders, with crews currently installing door and other interior trim.
