ORANGE PARK – The Active After 50 Group, the largest producer of expos for consumers 50 years and older in Northeast Florida will host the fourth annual Active After 50 Expo at the Thrasher-Horne Center on Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Presented by Millennium Physician Group in association with Active After 50 Online, the event is free. Clay County area Gen Xers, Baby Boomers, Seniors, Caregivers, family members and professionals who serve the Baby Boomer and Senior community are encouraged to attend. More than 60 vendors will be on hand. Attendees will enjoy a diverse range of exhibitors, fitness and nutrition tips, music, free health screenings, Pickleball, job and volunteer opportunities and a free raffle with lots of door prizes.

The generation gap is dwindling, boomers are rapidly becoming seniors and options for seniors have changed considerably.

“Seniors are living longer and healthier lives. Lifestyle choices have changed and 50-plus consumers are more upwardly mobile and enjoying many more options” said Sara Garcia-Malone, event director of the Active After 50 Expo.

For Pickleball players, those who want to learn how to play, or current players who want to improve, Pam Hatch, a local USAPA Pickleball Ambassador or PPR Certified Pickleball Instructor, will be on hand to give free instruction at the Active After 50 Expo. A full sized pickleball court will be set up and paddles will be available to use, if necessary. Pam will give pickleball tips and an introduction to the fastest growing sport in the country. “Discover Pickleball” will include a free Pickleball Challenge. Hit a Pickleball in a Target one time to Receive a Chance to Win Great Prizes Including Selkirk Sport pickleball paddles and gear.

Active After 50 Expo is proud to support the Feeding Northeast Florida Food Bank. They ask that everyone who attends bring at least one canned food or non-perishable items to drop in the bin at the Expo entrance. All who donate will receive a raffle ticket and qualify for great prizes drawn at the Expo’s conclusion, including the chance to win the Grand Prize pair of tickets to see Rod Stewart in Concert at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville.

Appearing live at the Orange Park Active After 50 Expo is Allana Southerland and Doyle Primm. As lead saxophonist with The Fusion Band, Allana has performed across the country sharing the stage with such legends as the Dizzy Gillespie AllStars, Dave Brubeck and Herbie Hancock. Allana will be playing jazz, top 100 music, and classics from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Doyle Primm, an ‘interactive’ musician, has spent a lifetime in the music industry. He is a highly skilled guitarist, vocalist, producer, and entertainer. Doyle will perform classics from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Also appearing is The Blue Lotus World Dance Company with a live Belly Dance Performance and Kam Lee Martial Arts with a Tai Chi Demonstration.
