4A-Keystone Heights (3-4, 2-4) at 4A-Interlachen (2-6, 1-4)
(KHHS 22, Interlachen 12)

Breather for Indians after 35-7 loss to unbeaten Villages. Running back Nick Channell is over 1,000 yards rushing with nine touchdowns. Channell held to just 59 yards against Villages. Defense led by Colton Crane’s 12 tackles. Indians befuddled by fumbles.

3-7A Creekside (4-4, 0-3) at 3-7A Oakleaf
(4-4, 2-1)
(OHS 31, CHS 17)

Dangerous game for Knights who have three game losing streak going and been beaten up by three state ranked teams. Coach Frank Garis can’t afford a slip up here as result of Buchholz vs. Bartram Trail could be district title shot by proxy. Bartram Trail wins, Oakleaf is district champion. Bartram Trail lost to Cocoa on Friday and will be wanting to get back into race. Creekside has three straight district losses and could be a season upsetter if they take out Oakleaf.

5-5A Clay (2-6, 1-3) at 5-5A Palatka (3-5, 1-3)
(CHS 42, PHS 12)

Clay may have left all their marbles in Baker County with near miss upset of district champion Wildcats. Rebounding from that with Palatka and University Christian will test mettle of Blue Devil spines. Blue Devils may be best 2-6 team in north Florida.

4-6A St. Augustine (3-5, 2-1) at 4-6A
MHS (2-5, 1-1)
(St. Augustine 28, MHS 7)

Middleburg has had a week or so off, but the Broncos played a half plus on Monday against Ed White before this game and lost 49-8. St. Augustine is kind of reeling with their surprise downturn and Broncos’ Smeltzer may have a rabbit up his sleeve. The district is all one lossed and a Bronco win (upset?) could be a boost to another playoff spot for Broncos. First White, then St. Augustine. Who knows? Note: Ed White finished with 49-8 win over Middleburg and district title on Monday.

5-5A Orange Park (6-2, 4-1) at 5-5A
Menendez (6-2, 2-2)
(OPHS 27, MHS 16)

Raiders on emotional roll, but Orange Park has been great at home. This is away. Still, Macpherson won’t let this one slip away. Menendez hiccuped against Ridgeview and may be seething. Better bring A game.

4-6A Ed White (3-4, 2-1) at 3-7A
Fleming Island (4-4, 1-3)
(FIHS 31, White 28)

Ed White is much improved and Fleming Island has been erratic at best. This will be interesting. Ed White has half game against Middleburg on Monday and that could help Fleming Island.

5-5A Baker County (6-2, 4-0) at 5-5A
Ridgeview (4-5, 1-3)
(Baker County 21, RHS 10)

Ridgeview knocked out Menendez with eight seconds, 34-33, in homecoming bonanza in Orange Park and that shook the district lineup slightly. An upset here would blow up the world. Senior quarterback Tyler Huff has not had the season he wanted this year and a slaying of the dragon would cap off a disappointing year.
Against Menendez, Ridgeview opened with tailback Caleb Plyler scoring after a fumble to set the tone for Panther upset. Plyler finished with 138 yards and three scores on the run; one via pass to lead Panthers. Ridgeview scored again off defensive stop on downs with Glen Miller catch putting Panthers back in scoring position. Plyler plunge puts score at 13-0 to the half.
In second half, Menendez exacts its run game to tie game 13-13 with Plyler putting Panthers back up 20-13. Menendez again runs in for score but misses critical PAT kick for 20-19 score. A pass and two pointer puts Menendez up 27-20 but Huff hits Plyler for seven yard scoring pass for 27-27 tie. Menendez on the run gets up 33-27 and misses another PAT that would be difference after 32 yard pass from Tyler Huff to Isaac Chaffin sets up scoring pass and final Matt Koziolek PAT for 34-33 upset win.

2A-Aucilla Christian (7-1, 4-1) at IND-SJCDS (3-5, 1-3)
(AC 17, SJCDS 14)
St Johns has nice 38-6 win over Georgia Christian to gain some momentum for this colossal matchup. Aucilla has just two games under 40 points with their loss to unbeaten Tallahassee Maclay, 48-14. Aucilla has a sophomore quarterback, No. 3, Brady Browning with 1,126 Yds in the air with 12 TDs plus a 1,248 yard rusher; No. 5 Blake Wirick with 14 TDs and seven 100-plus rushing yard games. Yikes!
Against Georgia Christian, three players scored on the ground; Max Monroe, Brady Walden and Eli Morton with Maxwell Arnold and Max Kelley scoring with passes as Spartans flexed a little offensive prowess.
Spartan defense got three fumble pickups; Monroe, Kelley and Morton to rive the offense field position for scores.
Morton and Walden led in tackles; 13 and 11, respectively, with Morton geting two sacks and an interception. Nate Rowen and John Nowicki both had one sack.
SJCDS with toughest test of season; big running back. Keystone Heights in position for playoff run. Oakleaf stays in 7A hunt contingent on Buchholz vs. Bartram Trail finish. Orange Park continues turnaround season with surge to playoffs for Macpherson. Baker County size stymies Ridgeview playoff hopes. Clay continues frontal assault on ground; too little too late.

Game of the Week

Will Ridgeview continue its upset role? It’s up to Baker County at this point. This is size versus speed. Baker County 21, Ridgeview 10.
