ORANGE PARK – A breakaway 45 yard scoring run and a one yard backward plunge by Alyssa Prather was all Wilkinson Junior High flag football needed to hold off the Orange Park Junior High Wildcats in a 13-7 Eagles’ win Monday afternoon at Orange Park Junior High.
Prather, in the first half, broke through the middle of the Wildcat defense and skinnied straight to paydirt for her first score, then in the second half, after an interception by Kyla Wright, who snared two picks, put the Eagles at the Wildcat one yard line where Prather finished off the scoring with a plunge over the top that landed her on her back in the end zone.
Wilkinson wideout Alexa Fortson had an interception and two key pass receptions that led to Eagles scoring drives. Slot back Kaylynn Pavlisko was damaging on the Eagles’ jet sweep option play that netted gains of seven and 12 yards.
Orange Park got a score from wide out Erin Wilkes who rumbled in from 20 yards out off a pass from quarterback Grace Farley. Farley also had two interceptions for Orange Park.
