Man charged with trying to steal woman’s beer
ORANGE PARK – An Orange Park area man faces one count of robbery after allegedly trying to steal a woman’s beer she had just purchased at a convenience store.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chad Michael Duvall, 37, on Sept. 4 at 12:04 a.m. at the Shell station at 11 Blanding Blvd.
According to the police report, a 56-year-old woman told police that Duvall tried to take her beer by force after she walked out of the Shell station’s front door. She said Duvall grabbed her by “her right arm and threw her down to the ground.”
According to CCSO, the victim has known Duvall “by his name” for approximately 10 years. After interviewing the victim, officers set out to find Duvall who was spotted walking northbound on Blanding Boulevard heading to Jacksonville.
When police interviewed Duvall, they said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol and had slurred speech.
At press time, Duvall remained in the Clay County Jail where his bond is set at $50,003.

Man accused of trying to meet minor for sex

ORANGE PARK – A U.S. Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade from Jacksonville is accused of traveling to Orange Park to solicit sex from a minor Thursday.
A Clay County Sheriff’s Office report said Michael Douglas McNeill, 30, was arrested at a Starbucks Coffee on Blanding Boulevard. The report said undercover detectives, posing as a guardian for a 12-year-old girl, had online conversations with McNeill via texts and social media between Aug. 27 and Aug. 30.
Investigators said McNeill believed he was conversing with the guardian of a 12-year-old girl. After arriving at Starbucks Coffee at about 11:05 a.m., deputies identified McNeill and he was taken into custody, the report said.
Police charged McNeill with traveling to meet or use a computer to solicit a guardian, using a computer to solicit a parent or guardian for the consent of a minor and using a 2-way device to facilitate a felony.
McNeill was released from the Clay County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

Officers forced to use taser on combative suspect
MIDDLEBURG – A Middleburg man faces three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and with vandalizing a patrol car.
According to a Clay County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies attempted to arrest 39-year-old Alexander Allan Lance after a domestic dispute in which he was accused of headbutting his wife at about 6 a.m.
Lance kicked at deputies while they attempted to subdue him, the report said, and he was tased while deputies attempted to remove him from the home. The report said Lance was placed in the patrol car, but he unbuckled his seat belt and began slamming his head against the barrier between the front and backseat.
Police said Lance also spit on a deputy, and “...also removed his clothing and was completely naked.” Deputies removed Lance from the car four times to readjust restraints, or after alleged combative behavior such as damaging the car’s interior.
The report said Lance grabbed a deputy’s testicles and tried take his taser, before being tasered three times.
Lance was medically cleared at Orange Park Medical Center and taken to Clay County Jail. His bond at the Clay County Jail was set at $20,014 and not released at press time.

Duo charged with grand theft
ORANGE PARK – Police arrested a Jacksonville man and woman Friday and accused them of allegedly stealing a trailer and tools.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies said Shawn Randall Parrish, 37, and Sabrina Mathis, 33, were charged with grand theft on Aug. 31.
The report said the trailer was taken between 9 p.m. Aug. 26 and 2 a.m. Aug. 27 from CAT Financial. However, an Orange Park Police officer identified the trailer at 2040 Smith St., but the trailer, toolbox and tools, valued at $1,700, were not reported stolen at the time, according to deputies.
On Friday, deputies located the trailer in the parking lot in front of 1670 Wells Rd. in Orange Park. Deputies then arrested Parrish when he was walking toward his vehicle. Parrish was held on a $26,507 bond and Mathis received a $25,003 bond at the Clay County Jail. Neither were released at press time.


Police chase ends in drug charges

ORANGE PARK – Police arrested a Green Cove Springs man Friday afternoon using three outstanding warrants.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies approached Blake Robert Podhany, 32, who fled behind 314 Blanding Blvd., left his keys in the ignition of his vehicle, according to a report. Podhany faces charges of cocaine possession, trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon.
The report said Podhany ran off was and arrested after a short chase on foot.
Podhany was in possession of $852 on his person, the report said, and after a police dog search, deputies found 166.74 grams of methamphetamine, 4.18 grams of oxycodone, 3.2 grams of buprenorphine, a loaded pistol and $7,600.
According to the report, Podhany had warrants for robbery, grand theft from 2012 and a misdemeanor from earlier this year.
At press time, he remained in the Clay County Jail without bond.
