ORANGE PARK - Ridgeview Panther Baseball would waste no time at all this afternoon getting after the Bishop Snyder Cardinals. In the first inning alone, the Panthers put up eight runs on their way to a punishing 18-0 victory in only five innings.
Things weren’t looking good for the Cardinals as they walked the first two batters. When Tyler Turner came to the plate, he poked a soft shot into right field to bring two runners around, yielding a standup triple. When it was Tyler Robinson’s turn, Snyder’s pitcher continued to struggle and hit Robinson in the back as he turned away from the misdirected pitch. On the next pitch, Robinson found himself with too much of a lead. Before he knew it, he was half way to second. With no options, he ran to second as Snyder could not seem to find a handle on the ball to throw him out. T.J. Oliveira would poke a nice shot past the third baseman, driving in another run. Evan Wickeri took a walk to load the bases up with Carlos Gonzalez coming to bat. Once again showing their pitching woes, the Cardinals walked the batter, scoring another for the Panthers. Twice Snyder coaches would approach the mound to try and settle things down. It didn’t help at all. With the bases still loaded up, Yamil Tosado brought around the top of the order and drove a nice shot past the right fielder, scoring a standup, 3 RBI triple. Garrett Barfield would follow suit and hit a shot between the short stop and third baseman, bringing around the final RBI of the first inning.
The bloodletting would continue for the next three innings with Ridgeview scoring four more in the 2nd inning, two in the 3rd, and finish the scoring with another four in the 4th all while blanking the cardinals with a stout defense. Hunter Morris had the win for Ridgeview with standout performances by Yamil Tosado 2-2, 3RBI, 5RBI and Austin Kittle 2-2, 2RBI, 3B. The Panthers had 14 hits to score the 18 runs, bringing their record to 8-2 on the season.
