Leda Shaw Lyerly
Lyerly, Leda Shaw Born the oldest of Richard and Marian Shaw’s 8 children on March 12, 1956 in Pensacola, Fla., Leda passed away on Dec. 26, 2017 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Lee is survived by her husband of 32 years, Tom Lyerly and 3 step-sons, Robert (Karen), Bryan (Christine), and Tom, Jr. (April) and 1 grandson, 4 granddaughters. Also survived by her mother, Marian Shaw; brothers, Danny Shaw, Robert Shaw (Pam), and Jamie Shaw (Patti); and sisters, Rosemary Henderson (Reed), Peggy Ryals (Tony), Marilyn Willard, and Diana Shaw. Lee is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Lee earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of North Florida and worked for many years as an I.C.U./C.C.U. nurse at St. Vincents Medical Center.
However, Lee found her real passion when she was accepted into the law school at the University of Georgia. While there, Lee was an esteemed Castellow Scholar and served as the Senior Articles editor for the Georgia Law Review from 2001-2002. Lee graduated Cum Laude and practiced in the Atlanta, Ga. area with the law firm of Hinton & Powell. Memorial services will be held at a later date in both Jacksonville and Atlanta. June Myers Betterton
June Myers Betterton, 66, of Jacksonville, passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at Haven Hospice Custead Care Center in Orange Park following an extended illness. Born in St. Lucie, Fla., she resided in Jacksonville since 1992 moving there from Paris, Texas. Years ago, June attended cosmetology school but had worked in the hotel industry for 20 years, serving as corporate general manager for Motel 6. She was a member of the Orange Park Church of the Nazarene where she enjoyed singing and playing the piano. June was very artistic and also enjoyed painting and drawing and at one time had a ceramic business.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Wayne Betterton, her parents, Nicholas John Myers and Marion Irene Bailey and a son, Brian Nicholas Betterton. June is survived 6 children, Kelly Betterton (Sonya) of Brownfield, TX, Kyle Betterton (Terri) of Palestine,TX, Ann Howard of Manchester, NH, Kraig Betterton (Cassandra) of Cooper,TX, Dwayne Betterton of Jacksonville and Tom Betterton (Felicia) of East Palatka, 3 sisters, LouAnn Parrish of Goldsboro, NC, Emily Walsh of Indianapolis, In and Crystal Hagan (J.R.) of Middleburg, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial services celebrating June’s life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at the Orange Park Church of the Nazarene, 3212 Moody Ave, Orange Park, with Rev. Crystal Riner officiating. Courtney Maralee Rideout

Courtney Maralee Rideout, 37, of Jacksonville, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2018. Courtney was born on December 24, 1979 in Jacksonville, FL. Courtney will be greatly missed by her mother, Cheryl Hutchison and husband Roy; her children, Sierra Nobles, Shylar, Cayden and Channing Pacheco, and Asher Rideout; her siblings, Joey and Matthew Rideout, Freedom Wolf, Laci Sullivan and husband Derek, Victoria Pazian and husband Kyle, Amy Andrews and husband Rocky, and Michelle Rideout; her granddaughter, Addilyn Necessary; best friend and fiance, Josh Gaither; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Courtney was preceded in death by her father, George Rideout; her grandparents, Joel and Ann West; and nephew, Oliver Sullivan. Courtney now has the peace and healing she so desperately longed for here on earth. In the midst of pain and loss, her family has found great comfort in knowing that she put her trust in Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior and chose to be baptized professing her faith publicly. A Celebration of Life, to honor the work the Lord has done in her life, followed by a reception, will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2018 at Moosehaven Chapel, 1701 Park Avenue, Orange Park, Fla. 32073.  Attire suggestions: Light, Modest, Semi-Casual.
