Pastor David Ernest Winter
Pastor David Ernest Winter, age 78, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, after a lengthy hospital stay. David was born on August 2, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Harvey and Margaret Winter.
Also, proceeded in death by his brother Ronald, survived by Dorothy (sister-in-law) and nephews David and Keith (Kathy). He graduated from Denby High School in Detroit, Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irene, daughter Jennifer, and son Timothy (Holli), and grandchildren Sarah and Decker.
David was ordained June 14, 1964 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit. He served St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio for 10 years and Advent Lutheran Church in Orange Park, Fla. for 30 years. After retirement he served as an interim pastor at Gethsemane in Gainesville, Spirit of Christ in Lake City, Mandarin and St Mark’s in Jacksonville. Some of his major accomplishments include bringing the Via De Cristo movement from Miami to Northern Florida, helping to establish Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Hawthorne Fla., being instrumental in building Advent Lutheran Church, and planting a new mission of Cross Road Lutheran Church in Orange Park, Fla.
A few of his gifts were speaking, singing, chancel drama, and children’s ministry through his puppets.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at Advent Lutheran Church 2156 Loch Rane Blvd. Orange Park, FL 32073 on Saturday, April 8 at 4pm followed by food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to Advent Lutheran Church.

Ralph C. “Mac” McConnaha
Ralph C. “Mac” McConnaha, age 95, passed away on March 28, 2017 at his residence in Keystone Heights, Fla. He was born on January 4, 1922 in Muscatine, Iowa to Clarence and Nellie McConnaha. He moved to the Jacksonville area when he was in the Navy at age 19 the spent most of his life here.
Prior to retirement he was a Supervisor with NAS JAX NARF for 43 years. He was an avid camper and traveled extensively with his late wife Dorothy. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII and Korea.
He was a member of the St. Nicholas Park Christian Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy E. McConnaha. He is survived by two daughters, Anita Mae Strother of Brandon, Fla. and Judy A. Kelley of Jacksonville, Fla. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Michelle Strother Green (Lawrence), Brian T. Kelley, Todd B. Kelley (Tara) and three great-grandchildren, Brannen Kelley (Saraley), Leah Kelley, and Jaxon Kelley. He also leaves several loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A visitation was held on Sunday April 2, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207. A Celebration of Life was Monday April 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home. Interment was at Greenlawn Cemetery with Military Honors and a reception following the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery.

Jimmy Nelson Carter Jr.
Jimmy Nelson Carter Jr., age 58, of Middleburg, Florida passed away March 14, 2017.
He was born September 22, 1958 in Jacksonville, Fla. son of Jimmy Nelson Carter Sr. and Loxi Taylor. Jimmy grew up on the Westside of Jacksonville before moving to Clay County.
He worked for many years at Baker County Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist. Jimmy was very proud of his Native American heritage and loved collecting jewelry and spirit items relating to Native Americans.
He was always full of life, never met a stranger, and loved his family dearly.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Melanie Carter; his mother, Loxi Taylor; his daughter, Tiffanie Johnson (Robbie); his grandchildren, Delia Johnson and Mackenzie Johnson; his sister, Debra (Kenneth) Massey; his nephew, Christopher Massey; his father in law, J.L. Gober; his sister in law, Judy Bell, numerous extended family members and friends.

Hilde B. Aid
Hilde B. Aid, 88, passed away quietly in her sleep on March 6, 2017. She was born in Kassel, Germany on September 23, 1928 to Martin and Martha Boeddiger.
She survived unimaginable hardships during WWII. Those experiences made her into the strong, giving, generous woman she became.
After the war, she married John D. Aid and they were together for 62 years, until his passing in 2010. She arrived in the United States on the 4th of July 1948 aboard the USS Ballou with 35 other “war brides.”
Since the 4th of July is a completely American holiday, the brides thought the fireworks were for them. She became a US citizen in the shortest time possible and her favorite colors were red, white and blue. Mrs. Aid is survived by her daughter; Martha-Jean Johnson, her sister; Doris Eickler and grandson; Glenn Minney.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. April 8, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens Holly Hill Funeral Home, 3601 Old Jennings Road Middleburg, Florida 32068. Ralph D. Freeman Sr.
Ralph D. Freeman Sr. 90, passed away Saturday March 25, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Audrey of 64 years in marriage, daughter Kathleen Colter, son in law, Greg Colter, and son, Ralph Dean Freeman Jr. and love of his life, Valerie Alexander, his sisters Edith Harris and Margie Bridger of Bladenboro, NC, younger brother Adrian Freeman of Clermont, FL, and sister, Elwanda Lincoln of Mt. Dora, FL, many nephew’s and neices.
Mr. Freeman served in the Coast Guard and Merchant Marines in World War II and was a radio mechanic at NAS JAX, owner of Freeman’s Mini Golf and Bicycle Shop in OP.
A Memorial Service will be held at Neptune Baptist Church, 407 Third St, Neptune Beach, FL on Friday, April 7th, luncheon at 1230 and service at 2pm.
