Joy Ann Kitchen

Joy Ann Kitchen, 72, passed away unexpectedly at St. Agnes Hospital on March 25, 2017. She was born to the late Henry “Hank” and Sara “Sadie” (Sohm) Duquaine on June 3, 1944 in Green Cove Springs, Fla. Joy graduated from Goodrich High School in 1962. She married James Kitchen on July 27, 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Fond du Lac.

Joy had an incredible zest for life. She surrounded herself with friends and family who loved and adored her. She was an incredible wife, mother and sister but in her later years, her pride and joy were her three amazing grandchildren. She took great pride in all their accomplishments, with multiple music concerts ranging from classical music to listening to the beautiful voices of all three at choral concerts. If Joy was not quietly sitting in an auditorium listening, she was routing them on on the sidelines of a volleyball or basketball court, soccer field or baseball diamond. She enjoyed every minute and didn’t miss a thing.

If Joy wasn’t involved in a grandchild’s event, she enjoyed her close knit group of friends with dining out, shopping and traveling. Joy felt like the luckiest woman on earth for many reasons, but the incredible relationship with her closest friend was a friendship like no other. Joni Shwed was always in Joy’s life, but they made their connection after they both became widowed. Joy and Joni were more than friends. They spoke of each other as sisters and it was a friendship that most can only wish for. The two of them were at times, inseparable, and brought the families together which has also fostered new and strong friendships. This amazing mother, grandmother, sister and friend will be dearly missed by all.

Joy is survived by one daughter Kathleen (Robert) Huck of Elm Grove,WI; three grandchildren Logan, Olivia and Sophia Huck and her stepmother Jan Duquaine. She is further survived by one brother Henry (Ruth) Duquaine; nephew and niece Kyle and Cassidy Duquaine; one brother-in-law Tom (Cindy) Kitchen and her best friend Joni Shwed.
