Warren Eugene Miller
Warren Eugene Miller was born Aug.1, 1998 to loving parents Drs. Deevid and Clorinde Miller. Warren was the youngest of two children. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers, Mr. Warren H. “Jack” Miller and Dr. Eugene Elmore Christian, both of whom he was named after. Warren was a loving and kind young man, well known throughout his community and school. He enjoyed playing with his brother and a host of cousins. At an early age, he showed a love for sports including soccer, football, and basketball. But he developed a strong passion for basketball and became an excellent player. In addition to being an excellent basketball player, Warren was an outdoorsman who loved animals. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling with his family. He received his primary and secondary education in Florida. He attended St. Johns Country Day School, Green Cove Springs Junior High School, and Fleming Island High School where he graduated May 2017. He played basketball for Orange Park Gators, Leroy Butler Foundation (LBF), Clay County Hoyas, Green Cove Springs Junior High Cougars, Team Marreese Speights (TMS), and Fleming Island High School. After graduation, he played basketball with Washington Academy Prep School in Greenville, North Carolina and National Team Sports Institute in Orlando, Florida. He was Christened at Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, and later he accepted Christ at Shiloh Church in Orange Park, Florida. Our beloved Warren will be remembered for his selflessness and his outgoing, energetic, caring, and loving personality. He loved people and enjoyed his family and friends. Warren’s large notable presence could warm any room. Warren departed this life Sunday, August 5, 2018 in an automobile accident in Jacksonville, Florida. This faithful “Child of God” is survived by his loving parents, Drs. Deevid and Clorinde Miller; one brother, Deevid Richard “Lil Dee” Miller; one nephew, Deallo Kova Miller; paternal grandmother, Wynetta C. “Mother Y” Miller of Greenwood, South Carolina; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Mae Christian of Orange Park, Florida and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memory, Godparents Michael Williams and Dreama Williams. Visitation were held on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233 and on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at noon at Shiloh Church Orange Park, 939 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32065. A funeral service was held on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at 1p.m. at Shiloh Church Orange Park, 939 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32065.


Vivian Frances Bechtel
Mrs. Vivian Frances Bechtel (known to her friends as Peggy) (maiden name Brown) died peacefully in her sleep at Haven Hospice on the morning of Sept. 4 in Orange Park, Fla. at the age of 84. Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Wayne E. Bechtel, her parents, John Thomas and Florence Moore Brown, and all ten of her siblings as well as her son-in-law Richard Ladd. Survivors include her son and his wife - Dave Bechtel (Kathy) of Sterrett, Ala.; her daughter - Lynn Ladd of Orange Park, Fla.; granddaughters Jennifer (Dwayne) Shrader and Melissa Bechtel, grandson JB Ladd and granddaughter Kelsey Ladd, 2 great grandchildren Amanda Grace Shrader and Dane Edward Shrader; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Peggy was born on February 11, 1934 in Newnan, Ga. She graduated from Newnan High School in 1951. She married Wayne after meeting him at a boarding house in Atlanta, Ga., where it was almost love at first sight. They then moved to multiple locations throughout the United States before finally retiring to East Palatka, Fla. in 1995. Her children remember her as a loving, kind and wonderful mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Their home was always filled with friends and family, and a never ending supply of Kool-Aid for Dave, Lynn and their friends who gathered around their home at all times.
Peggy was a member of Westside Church of Christ in Palatka, Fla. and was accomplished at sewing and cooking. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother, and loved playing cards with her family and friends. Peggy and Wayne managed to enjoy several cruises and a couple of trips to Europe after their retirement in 1995.
A celebration of life is being planned for October 6 in Palatka, Fla., with time and details to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Peggy’s life with her family on this date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Haven Hospice or Wounded Warriors. The family would like to thank the staffs at Seagrass Village, Baptist South and Haven Hospice of Orange Park for their care and love for Peggy. Samuel Darvin Owens Sr.

Samuel Darvin Owens Sr, 78, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was born to Samuel D. Owens and Julia F. Waters Owens on February 13, 1940. Samuel was married to Andrea Kersey McNair Owens. Samuel loved to race and watch football. He will be remembered as a great father, husband and grandfather.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Samuel Owens; sisters, Dorothy Owens, Sue Kersey and Joann Walters; brothers, Buddy Owens and Julian Owens; daughter, Trenda Hogg Owens; sons, Samuel Owens Jr. and Paul McNair; grandsons, Jonny Hogg and Tony Hogg; great-granddaughter, Destiny Dyaland and great-grandson, Liam Iscoa.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Kersey McNair Owens; brother, Earl Owens; son, James Owens; daughters, Brenda Owens Mcguirt (Donnie) and Lynn Maerkel (David); grandchildren, Christy Deel (Jamie), Misty Gill (Gary), Donald Mcguirt (Hilary), Thomas Mcguirt, Samantha Self (Brandon), Mellissa Mcguirt (Emerson), Lisa Hogg (Eric), Joanna Rivers (John), Rachel Hogg (Chris), Ashley Shields (Chris), Jimmy Brock, Jessica Owens, Christal Owens, Jessica Miller, Candace McNair (Michael), Calen McNair (Kayla), Kattie Kramer, Sara Chenoweth and Jeff Merkel; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Mr. Jim Stutts officiating. Friends are welcomed to visit with the family from 10:00 am until service time. Burial will directly follow the service at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
