Barnes completes basic training
SAN ANTONIO – U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Tyler S. Barnes graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.
Barnes completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Barnes is the son of Heidi A. and Thomas G. Barnes of Fleming Island. He is a 2012 graduate of C.E. Jordan High School in Raleigh, N.C. He earned an associate degree in 2014 from McCook Community College, McCook, Nebraska.

Barretto has new orders
BREMERTON, WASH. – Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher L. Barretto has arrived for duty as a culinary specialist with galley at Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, Wash.
He is a 2011 graduate of Ridgeview High School near Orange Park.

Lombardi completes first year of med school
SAN ANTONIO – Former Clay resident, Andrea Lombardi recently completed her first year of medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in May.
Lombardi, a recipient of the U.S. Army Health Profession Scholarship, and commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, just completed the intense six-week Basic Officer Leader Course at Camp Bullis in San Antonio Texas this summer. Camp Bullis provides base operations support and training support to Joint Base San Antonio Mission Partners to sustain their operational and institutional training requirements. While in training, Lombardi was assigned to Alpha Company, 187th Medical Battalion.
BOLC is designed to instruct students on the basics of being an Army and Army Medical Department officer. It helps students make a smooth transition into the Army. The course provides an increased understanding of the U.S. Army, its various missions and most importantly, how to contribute to the success of those missions. The student’s focus at the AMEDD Center & School is discipline, teamwork, basic soldier skills, tactical medical doctrine, and learning the principles behind becoming a resilient, agile leader.
A former student athlete, Lombardi earned a combined 14 varsity letters from St. Johns Country Day School and Bishop Snyder High where she played soccer, softball, volleyball and swam. She played in two state championships, one in softball at Bishop Snyder and one in soccer at St. Johns, runner up in both.
Lombardi completed her undergraduate degree at Rhodes College in Memphis, where she majored in Bio chemistry/molecular biology and played NCAA softball and lacrosse. She is the daughter of Michael and Lee Lombardi of Orange Park.

Reigart honored for service
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Marine Corps 1st Lt. Jacob M. Reigart has been decorated with the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
The medal is awarded for meritorious service or achievement in a combat or non-combat role. Its recipients have demonstrated either consistently superb performance or a singular exceptional act of heroism, service or professional leadership that contributes greatly toward accomplishment of the unit’s mission.
Reigart is the son of Nancy and William Reigart of Ridge Spring, S.C.
A 2009 graduate of Clay High in Green Cove Springs, Reigart earned a bachelor’s degree in 2013 from Savannah State University in Savannah, Ga.
