Clay Countians complete U.S. Air Force training
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Two Clay County residents recently completed basic training with the U.S. Air Force at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Airman Kevin W. Torres-Nevarez is the son of Diana N. and step-son of William O. Melendez of Orange Park, brother of Liz W. Figueroa of Orange Park and Darwin W. Torres of Jacksonville, son-in-law of Ileana M. Torres of Jacksonville and Jean Figueroa of Orange Park.
He is a 2013 graduate of Orange Park High School.
Airman Kiarah J. Lewis is the daughter of Maryann M. and Tyree M. Lewis, and granddaughter of Mickey D. and Benilda C. Warriner, all of Orange Park. She is a 2015 graduate of Clay Virtual Academy, which is based on the campus of Orange Park High.
