Elkins completes basic training
SAN ANTONION, Texas – U.S. Air Force Airman Christian F. Elkins graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland at San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Elkins, a 2016 graduate of Fleming Island High, is the son of Zachariah A. and Ashley S. Elkins of Fleming Island.

Berania completes basic training
FORT JACKSON, S.C. – Private First Class Devon Berania of Orange Park recently graduated from U.S. Army basic combat training in Columbia, South Carolina. Berania is headed to Advanced Individual Training for the next 17 weeks to be trained as a CH-47 helicopter repairer also known as the “Chinook” helicopter.
During the nine weeks of training, Berania studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Berania, a 2016 graduate of Ridgeview High, is the son of Bernie and Crystal Berania.
