ORANGE PARK - A short touchdown pass to Kendall Meeks and a long run from basketball ace Hannah Roney were the two highlights of a 12-0 flag football win for Middleburg over Ridgeview High on Thurs., March 29.

Meeks, coming back last year from an All Pro season as one of the top wide receivers in Florida. hauled in a short pass from quarterback Caylie Melcolm in the first half.

The Broncos were led on defense by interceptions from Roney and Meghan Sarkese who thwarted Ridgeview quarterback Brittany Sutton. Sutton’s main target through the contest was wideout Jilda Reyes who able to haul in passes for big gains, but unable to puncture the goal line.

For the Lady Broncos, on the defensive line play of Nadgeda Register who was continually pressuring Sutton.

In the second half, with the score just one score up for the Broncos, Ridgeview quarterback Sutton was moving the ball into scoring position with quick passes to Reyes and Jessica Evans before Roney stepped in front of a fluttering pass just in front of the Bronco end zone and returned the ball 50 yards on the opposite end.

Middleburg hosts Baldwin on April 6 with an away game at Ed White on April 13.

Ridgeview heads to Orange Park on April 5 with Clay visiting April 13.
