GAINESVILLE – Keystone Heights junior tailback Nick Channell continued his rampage on enemy defenses with 161 rushing yards and two scores, but the effort was not enough as the Indians lost a 41-14 contest to P.K.Yonge Friday in Gainesville.
The Indians, now 1-1, will face Bradford County Friday in a key 4A region contest.
Channell rumbled through his second two score game for the Indians, but the Keystone Heights offense sputtered with Ty Friedlin being held to just 42 yards as the second ball carrier for coach Chuck Dickinson. Friedlin ran for 132 yards with two scores in the Indians’ opener, a 24-15 win over Fernandina Beach High. Against P.K. Yonge, the Indians defense gave up 166 passing yards with a score and two rushing touchdowns leaving the score at 21-0 before the halftime break. P.K. Yonge had four rush touchdowns and two via pass.
For Keystone Heights, Colton Crane had a 45 yard kickoff return.
P.K. Yonge intercepted quarterback Gage Stephens in the first half to lead to a score with a fumble in the second quarter leading to another rush score and a 28-0 lead.
Channell had a rushing touchdown for Keystone Heights in the second quarter, but P.K. Yonge rolled right down the field for a score and a 35-7 lead at the half.
