ORANGE PARK – The recent “Benton House” Golden Years Gala raised $20,000 for the programs at the Shepherd’s Center of Orange Park.

The May 3 event also honored area seniors for their community service.

In the category of “Volunteer Man of the Year,” Mike DelPizzo won for his service for providing urns for unclaimed veterans’ remains. Mary Ann Baugh won in the category of “Volunteer Woman of the Year” for her commitment to nine different organizations in Clay County. The “Lifetime Achievement Award” was awarded to Russ Kamradt for his activities with the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Clay County Salvation Army, Waste Not Want No, Marine Corps League, Fleming Island United Methodist Church, Mission Harvest International and Henderson Haven.

The Shepherd’s Center “Volunteer of the Year” is Maureen Preta, the face of the Shepherd’s Center in the community at many outreach events and is known as a great organizer of events within the center’s programs.

Elder Source hosted the event which drew more than 160 people. From left are Kamradt, DelPizzo, Amaro, Shepherd’s Center Director Christy Fitzgerald, Mary Ann Baugh and Mareen Preta.
