Faith walk: Fear

One of the greatest victories you can ever have is a victory over fear. Fear can paralyze you. It can immobilize you. It can destroy you.

There are fears, or phobias, that everyone faces. There are some fears that seem strange – even odd – but they are very real to certain people.

Events in your past may have a stranglehold of fear on you. However, no matter how tightly fear seems to hold you, you can be free from it. You have to recognize that fear is your enemy and then apply the answer that the Lord has given you in His word to break that bondage.

There is a name for almost any kind of fear because every kind of fear exists. For example, lunaphobia is fear of the moon; Astraphobia is fear of lightning; Chrometophobia is fear of money (imagine that); Europhobia is fear of the color red. These fears are named because they exist! Agoraphobia (fear of open spaces) will cause a person to stay inside his house or even lock himself inside.

If you are afflicted with fear, you have to go to the One who has promised deliverance. “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” (1 John 4:18)

God’s love is the answer. Saturate yourself in it. Love will produce faith. And faith is the antidote for fear. Paul wrote, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” (Galatians 5:6)

You do not have to be victimized by fear in your life. Fear is bondage. Jesus is freedom! (John 8:36)

The promises of Jesus answer fear. He said, “Fear not, little flock, it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)

I am praying that anyone who reads these words who is bound by fear will be set free from that fear today by the power of Jesus who is our Freedom!
