FLEMING ISLAND - Fleming Island High junior soccer forward Reed Davis now has three pretty big trophies for his fireplace with two Florida Dairy Farmer awards; the all-classes boys soccer player of the year and the Class 4A player of the year awards, plus that biggie the Class 4A team title that Fleming Island High won recently.

Add to that a nomination for the prestigious Gatorade Player of the Year which is awarded to the top soccer player in the nation.

Fleming Island coach Frank Pontore, who was recognized as the second place award winner in the Dairy Farmer's all classes coach of the year, was given the Class 4A coach of the year on the same timetable as his best player Davis.

Coaches will be submitting credentials to the Gatorade sports association with a June release of the selected player.

Davis scored 50 goals for the season in leading the Golden Eagles to the title.

Last year's Gatorade player of the year was Lucas Mendes of Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA, a senior who scored 21 goals and had 12 assists while leading the Generals to the 6A Virginia title is his first year of competitive soccer.

Morgan Brian, a former player for the Clay County Soccer Club SOL womens team, was a 2010-2011 womens soccer Gatorade Player of the Year. Brian, who played at Frederica Academy in Georgia, is now a U.S. Olympic team and women's U.S. National team member.
