INVASIVE PLANTS: Dan Dorosheff, a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission biologist, will discuss Invasive Water Plants and Plant management on Jan. 24 at Trinity Episcopal church in Melrose. TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL: Meets Jan. 24 at 3:30 p.m., in the Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room, fourth floor, administration building, 477 Houston St., Green Cove Springs. The meeting is open to the public.

BOOK SALE: Middleburg Clay Hill Public Library’s Friends of the Library members get to shop early on Jan. 25 beginning at 9 a.m. while the general public comes in from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. On Jan. 26, guests can begin shopping at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. On Jan. 27, again Friends members shop beginning at 9 a.m., while the public gets in from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Also, on Jan. 27, guests can fill a Friends Book Bag for just $5. “A DRUG FREE DAY IN CLAY” Hosted by the Derek Hatcher Foundation and City Streets to Student Athletes present a symposium about the opioid crisis Feb. 3 from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Thrasher-Horne Center. This free event will feature real life stories, door prizes and interactive discussions about working together to keep the community safe.

JACKSONVILLE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA: An ensemble of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra will be featured in concert on Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. at Island View Baptist, 900 Park St. in Orange Park. If you are interested in singing on the community choir please call (904) 562-8409 or (904) 264-6411 and leave your information via text or voicemail, or the church secretary at Island View Baptist Church. The event is free to the public but seating is limited, and is on a first come, first served basis.
