SOCIETY OF MIXED MEDIA ARTISTS: The Vandroff Art Gallery at the Jewish Community Alliance, located at 8505 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville hosts "Artist Visions” will showcase pieces by many of the award-winning members of the organization. Regular hours at the center are: M-Thurs. 5:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.; Fri. 5:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sat. 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Sun. 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. The show runs through Jan. 31.

ROUND ROBIN SHAKESPEARE: January 11 at 6:30 pm, Fleming Island Public Library, 1895 Town Center Blvd. Join us as we begin our monthly aloud, round robin style reading of "Coriolanus." Free Admission. No experience necessary. Everyone welcome. Come to read or listen. Some copies available, or free downloads. More info at roundrobinshakespeare.com.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF ORANGE PARK: Kicks off the new year Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Clarke House on Kingsley Avenue. Featured speaker is. Elaine Smith, founder and artistic director of Clamour Theatre Company, and install our new officers for 2018.

PRESERVING BLACK CREEK: The Nature Center at Camp Chowenwaw County Park presents guest speaker Genevieve Fletcher of the North Florida Land Trust who will present “Preserving Black Creek,” Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public, and includes interactive nature displays along with naturalist hosts to answer questions. COMMEMORATIVE CONCERT: January 14 at 7 p.m., Penney Memorial Church, 4465 Poling Ave, with the Lopez Tabor Duo, comprised of violinist Alfonso Lopez and pianist Michelle Tabor. The concert and parking are free.

BOOK SALE: Middleburg Clay Hill Public Library’s Friends of the Library members get to shop early on Jan. 25 beginning at 9 a.m. while the general public comes in from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. On Jan. 26, guests can begin shopping at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. On Jan. 27, again Friends members shop beginning at 9 a.m., while the public gets in from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Also, on Jan. 27, guests can fill a Friends Book Bag for just $5.
