PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT: “Gideon Mendel: Drowning World” runs from Sept. 1 to Dec. 9 at the MOCA, Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Jacksonville. NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY: Celebrate at Camp Chowenwaw, 1517 Ball Rd., Green Cove Springs, Sept. 22. Volunteers needed to help remove invasive plants from the park’s forests from 9 a.m.-Noon. No experience; must be able to work outdoors for a few hours. Those under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone. Trash bags and hand tools will be provided, and restrooms and drinking water are available at the park. Along with a packed lunch, volunteers should bring long pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes, refillable water bottles, work gloves and anything needed for their comfort while working outdoors.
