MIDDLEBURG - With the recent athletics history at Middleburg High School; softball state titles, football region playoffs, weightlifting medalists, the Bronco Horsepower Nation has added a new room to keep the momentum going.

“Middleburg sports has improved year after year the past few years and I have to try and keep up,” said Middleburg Athletic Director Casey Thompson. “We want to make sure out student athletes have the best equipment and facilities to allow them to get stronger and better in their sports. This room is for everyone.”

The new weightroom is a nearly $100,000 final plan with the most recent installment of about $13,000 bringing new weight racks with another $35,000 for a new floor. The spacious center of the room offers plenty of room for athletes to warm up and prepare for workouts.

“All of our sports have been using this room already,” said Thompson. “The coaches have met and discussed the needs to best work with their athletes and what they may need.”

For Middleburg head football coach Ryan Wolfe and his workout masters; Benjamin Traywick and Alan Burnsed, the installation of the new equipment is with a mindset of giving the Bronco athletes a newer, cleaner room to get better.

“It’s another step in our plan to improve all of the sports here at Middleburg,” said Wolfe, who turned a 5-5 final season record last year in his initial season. “My goal when I first got here was to try and get the best stuff for these kids. This room is for all the sports, of course, I want my football guys to be able to get stronger.”

Wolfe’s preparation for 2023 includes another wicked start of season as was his 2022 start with newly crowned state champion Hawthorne (1R state champ), Bâ ¬ishop Kenny (region quarters), Bradford (2S Final Four) and Ponte Vedra who gave Wolfe an early wakeup call in is first year with four losses in a row.

“Everyone was new to the program last year and we got hit hard,” said Wolfe. “I want to see us enter those games better prepared and stronger.”
