GREEN COVE SPRINGS – After serving six months in the role of acting chief of police, the City of Green Cove Springs has appointed Derek S. Asdot as its police chief.
Asdot was appointed Acting Police Chief in April of this year after Chief Robert Musco resigned after a controversy in which he referred to a black police officer as “token.”
In a press release, city officials stated, "During the last six months, Mr. Asdot has performed in an exemplary manner. Therefore, after careful consideration and an interview, the City Manager has appointed Derek S. Asdot as our new Police Chief.”
His appointment is effective immediately.
