Clay business honored for boosting education
TALLAHASSEE – Pragmatic Works, a Fleming Island-based information technology company, was one of some 50 Florida business partners in education that were recently awarded the Florida Education Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award. The awards were made in June during the Florida Chamber Foundation Education Summit in Orlando. Brian Knight, shown here with Chereese Stewart, director of Career and Technical Education, was recognized for funding dual enrollment classes for Middleburg High students through St. Johns River State College, as well as, the high school’s Visual, Information Technology and Leadership Academy. Knight recently hired two MHS graduates as full-time employees after completing internships with Pragmatic Works. He was recognized by the Clay County School Board on Aug. 18.
Scott graduates from Clemson University
CLEMSON, S.C. – Thomas Richard Scott Jr. of Melrose graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering.
Scott was among nearly 1,000 students who received degrees in the graduation ceremony at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
Lombardi graduates from Rhodes College
MEMPHIS – Andrea Lombardi or Orange Park recently began medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Recently commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Lombardi graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in May with a degree in bio-chemistry and molecular biology.
The recipient of a health professions scholarship, upon completion of medical school and residency requirements, she will report to active duty as doctor and captain in the Army.
Daughter of Michael and Lee Lombardi of Orange Park, she graduated grammar school at St. Johns Country Day and attended high school at Bishop Snyder where she was a scholar-athlete in lacrosse and softball.
