ORANGE PARK - Facing off against one of the more prominent baseball programs in Florida, the Ridgeview High Panthers baseball team got a big gulp of OMG with a first inning grand slam en route to a 13-3 season opening loss Monday afternoon at Ridgeview High School.

Senior pitcher Tyler Robison hit his second batter, walked his third and got a bunt against him to load the bases before Trinity hitter Mike Nugent sent a three balls/two strike pitch past the centerfield wall to put the score at 4-0 very quickly.

Ridgeview would try to find an answer to pitch against the hot Trinity bats and lefty Marcus Roman was installed at the end of that first inning with the score at 7-0.

Roman closed the inning with a strike out, but Ridgeview's bats were ineffective and ended up with three outs on three at bats.

Down 10-0 into the bottom of the second inning, Ridgeview scored Brandon Dumas from second base on a rocket double from Tyler Robison to avert the shutout.

Ridgeview had a preseason win, 5-3 over Creekside on February 15 and a 12-9 loss to Nease on February 14 as 2017 started with the Clay High preseason tournament.
