Bank chips in for food pantries
ORANGE PARK – Elizabeth Katz, Fleming Island branch manager for Ameris Bank joined her colleague Amy Horton, Orange Park branch manager for Ameris and delivered two checks for $897.33 each as well as more than 80 pounds of food to the The Clothes Closest and Food Pantry of Orange Park and the Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs as part of the bank’s 7th Annual Helping Fight Hunger Initiative. The Fleming Island Branch partnered with the community to collect food donations and Ameris paid for each item collected. Ameris Bank also made separate donations to other food pantries in Clay County, such as a $584.82 donation to The Good Samaritan Church, a $584.82 donation to Calvary United Methodist Church and a $2,729.78 donation to Middleburg Methodist Church. A companywide project of Ameris Bank, the initiative exceeded its goal of 500,000 food items by collecting 825,981 items in October. Parent company, Ameris Bancorp, pledged to donate $100,000 to local food banks throughout the communities it serves.
