Commending those who speak out

Posted

I am a resident of the Penney Retirement Community. Every year, we give scholarships to deserving students. As many of us are former teachers and professors, we and others here take a keen interest in education, and are watching the upcoming local elections with the same interest.

PRC has been known as a faith-based, volunteer, or mission-oriented gathering of retired professionals, most of whom are still active in their churches. It is one of the ways we can reach out to our local community and the world.

It seems to me that there are some folks in the greater area who feel that church life somehow grants a sense of entitlement – that, as long as God’s Name or the Bible are invoked, He will look the other way when educational, fiscal or political responsibilities are ignored or manipulated. God may indeed be patient for a time, but eventually, the hammer comes down. I commend those who stand up for principle, and speak out.
